The Beginning of Knowledge

Reading one of the 31 chapters of Proverbs each day every month will help you develop a good working knowledge of Proverbs. You can double up on the reading in months with fewer than 31 days.
Proverbs 24:23, 30:1 and 31:1 give us indications that other inspired writers did write some of the proverbs. “These are also sayings of the wise . . . ” (v 24:23), “The words of Agur . . .” (v 30:1), and “The words of King Lemuel . . .” support the observation that Solomon was the primary author, but not the only author of the book of Proverbs.
Yes. Solomon wrote proverbs found in the book of Ecclesiastes. Furthermore, according to 1 Kings 4:32, Solomon spoke 3,000 proverbs and wrote 1005 songs! Only about 900 of Solomon’s proverbs are contained in the Book of Proverbs.
Verses 2-6 indicate that the purpose of the book of Proverbs is to give moral discernment and skillfulness for living a life that is pleasing to God.
